Last updated 30 September 2026
Sunset Financial Services, operated by Scott Weaver ("we", "us", "our"), respects your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, store and disclose your personal information, including credit information, and how you can access or correct it or make a complaint.
We are bound by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), including the Australian Privacy Principles and, where relevant, Part IIIA of that Act and the Privacy (Credit Reporting) Code. Scott Weaver is a Credit Representative (CRN 533386) of QED Credit Services Pty Ltd, Australian Credit Licence 387856. QED's own privacy and credit reporting policies also apply to the credit services we provide, and we can give you a copy on request.
What we collect
To help you with finance, we usually collect:
- identity and contact details, such as your name, date of birth, address, phone number and email
- identification documents, such as a driver licence or passport, which we must verify under anti-money-laundering laws
- financial details, including income, employment, assets, liabilities and living expenses
- credit information, such as your repayment history and existing credit accounts
- details of the property, vehicle or asset you want to buy or refinance
- information about your goals and circumstances that affects which loan suits you
We only collect sensitive information, such as health information relevant to a hardship request, with your consent and where it is reasonably needed.
How we collect it
We collect most information directly from you: in meetings, by phone or email, through forms and from documents you provide. With your consent, we may also collect information from lenders, credit reporting bodies, your employer, accountant or other advisers, valuers, and other people acting for you.
If you don't provide the information we ask for, we may not be able to assess your situation or arrange credit for you.
Why we collect it
- to assess your needs and recommend a suitable loan and structure
- to meet our responsible lending obligations under the National Consumer Credit Protection Act 2009 (Cth)
- to verify your identity as required by the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act 2006 (Cth)
- to prepare and submit applications to lenders and manage them through to settlement
- to carry out our quarterly reviews of your loan and tell you about options that may suit you better
- to answer your enquiries and keep in touch
- to meet our legal, regulatory and licensee record-keeping requirements
We may send you information about our services, including market updates. You can opt out at any time by telling us or by using the unsubscribe option in our emails.
Who we share it with
We only disclose your information for the purposes above or as the law allows. This may include:

Some of our service providers are located in, or store data in, other countries. Your information may be disclosed to service providers in India, and may be stored in cloud systems that can be accessed from outside Australia. Where that happens, we take reasonable steps to make sure your information is handled in line with the Australian Privacy Principles.
Information about other people
If you give us information about another person, such as a co-borrower, guarantor or referee, please let them know that you have done so and that they can read this policy to see how we will handle it.
Credit reporting
With your consent, we or a lender may obtain your credit report from a credit reporting body to assess an application. Credit reporting bodies can use this information to help credit providers assess your creditworthiness. You can ask a credit reporting body not to use your information for pre-screening of direct marketing, and to stop using or disclosing it if you believe you have been, or are likely to be, a victim of fraud. More detail is in QED's credit reporting policy, available on request.
Our website
When you send a message through the enquiry form on this website, your details are passed to FormSubmit (formsubmit.co), a form-forwarding service, which emails them to us. FormSubmit is based outside Australia. The website itself does not store what you type. The website loads fonts from Google Fonts, which means Google receives your IP address and browser details when you visit. We do not use advertising cookies on this website.
Keeping it secure
We take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access or disclosure. We keep records for as long as the law and our licensee require, then destroy or de-identify them securely.
Access and correction
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it is wrong, out of date or incomplete. Contact us using the details below. We will respond within a reasonable time, usually 30 days. If we refuse, we will tell you why in writing.
